OUR STORY

Mama Love was born out of love — a mother’s love that could never be broken, no matter what. My name is Maria, and I am the mother of a beautiful boy, JJ. For years, I raised him with joy, creativity, and care. But through separation and the family court system, we were torn apart in a way no child and mother should ever be. Today, I still do not have JJ back full-time.

This isn’t just my story. Families across the country face the same struggles: courts that don’t always protect children, systems that overlook the importance of love and stability, and a process that too often forgets the people at the heart of it all.

From the Courtroom to Healing Work

Before this, I trained and worked in law. I believed in justice, fairness, and due process — that everyone deserves to be heard. But when I entered family court myself, I experienced how often those values can be lost. At the same time, I have lived with disability and chronic pain for many years, which only added to the challenges.

And yet, in the middle of all that, I found a different kind of power — the power of transformation. I began turning my own pain into healing practices, blending trauma-informed care, somatic awareness, and creativity. Mama Love is my alchemy: taking trauma and transforming it into love, art, and community.

Why Mama Love Exists

Mama Love isn’t just clothing. It’s a statement. A movement. Every hoodie, every hat, every design is a piece of a bigger story: that no system, no courtroom, no piece of paper should erase the bond between a mother and her child.

Wearing Mama Love means standing with us. It means choosing to say: Love cannot be silenced. Families deserve fairness. Mothers deserve to be seen. Whether you’re here because you like the look of our sweatshirts, or because you want to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with mothers fighting for change, you are welcome.

Our Long-Term Vision

Mama Love is building for the future. Here’s what we’re dreaming of — and working toward:

•  Communities for Mothers: Safe spaces and homes for mothers who have been displaced by violence or court struggles.

• A Legacy for JJ: So that my son knows who his mother truly is — not the story the system wrote, but the life we lived and the love that was real.

• Family Court Reform: Joining voices nationwide to make sure due process, fairness, and love for children are at the center of every decision.

• A Global Movement of Love: Spreading this message beyond courtrooms and into culture — making love go viral.

An Invitation to You

This is not just my story. This is our story. Family court challenges touch every community, and change won’t come from one voice alone.

So I invite you to be part of this movement — whether by wearing a hoodie that sparks a conversation, sharing our story with someone who needs to hear it, or standing with us to demand better from our courts.

Together, we can make love louder than injustice. Together, we can make sure no child grows up wondering where their mother went, when the truth is she never left.

Mama Love: Wear the story. Share the mission. Join the movement.
